Morley's Final Catalogue: Referring also to Large Nutmeg: Both frequent everywhere at dusk, sugar and light in summer.

Recent Suffolk Status: Common.

Life history: Single-brooded. A larva was found inside the seedhead of Ploughman's spikenard in October 2013 at Thurston.

Identification: Large Nutmeg has a much more marbled forewing and lacks the obvious black branched basal forewing streak. Dusky brocade is a greyer moth.

Habitat: A wide variety of grassy habitats including gardens.
